I’ve had this on-going problem for a while with uploading images onto different SNS services (ie. facebook/twitter/naver blog/dropbox) ever since I changed my computer from a windows-based laptop to a macbook air.

Le Problem:

Whenever I uploaded the photos, they were significantly less vibrant in colour, and less saturated.  I even tried to upload to flickr/500px/picasa (so called the photo-albums), and they were also so horrible :(   There’s a reason why I shoot my pictures in raw format, so later I can retouch them to their best possible appearance!

ex. the photo will usually look like this, less saturated, less vibrant, less fun.

Solution:

Before saving your raw files to jpg on mac,

1. Pull down the “Image” menu and select “RGB Color” and “8 Bits/Channel” (most of the times, it would be already in this mode).
2. “Edit” Menu and select “Convert to profile”. Then chose “Profile sRGB IEC61966-2.1, Engine Adobe (ACE), Intent Relative Colorimetric, Use Blackpoint Compensation, Use Dither.” 
3. Although you will still see a bit of discolouration (well what can you do, that’s what online services do to our photos!) 

ex. the same photo above, was supposed to look like THIS (at least…)!
